Thames Gate Films Africa - A message from Johan Neethling

We at Thames Gate Films believe that just because someone is less financially able to do so, does not necessarily preclude them from having their voice heard.

Being from South Africa, our founder Johan Neething has a special place for Africa in his heart:

"I have always loved Africa, it is my place of birth and even though I have moved to the other side of the world, the people, the landscape and the African pulse lives on in me. I have come to make my mark and have my voice heard, because I have stories to tell. I have been fortunate in this pursuit, but what about those who are less fortunate than us, do they not deserve the chance to have their voice heard?

I think they do.

It is for this reason that Thames Gate Films will contribute some of money derived from "The Lost" towards purchasing equipment (such as digital cameras and laptops for editing) and creating a learning environment for younger children less fortunate than us to learn about filmmaking, in order to develop their voice; and more importantly, have their voices heard by the rest of the world.

We also aim to provide a web-based platform from which to showcase this work to the rest of the world, so that people can see the real life stories, dreams and ambitions of these children.

I really believe that we will see some exceptional story telling, both fictional and real-life, coming from this initiative and we look forward to sharing the first films with you in over coming months and years!"
